Courtesy Visit to Singapore’s Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Health, Dr Lam Pin Min by Mr Yukikazu Myochin, President & CEO of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd

On 30th April 2019, Mr Yukikazu Myochin, President & CEO of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd, Mr Makoto Hashizume, President & CEO of “K” Line Pte Ltd and Mr Yukihiko Itagaki, CFO of “K” Line Pte Ltd and Mr Siow Kim Bok, General Manager, GAD of “K” Line Pte Ltd paid a courtesy visit to Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Health, Dr Lam Pin Min, who was accompanied by Ms Tan Beng Tee, Assistant Chief Executive of Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Mr Tan Hoe Soon, Director of Sea Transport division, Ministry of Transport, Ms Tan Woei Tyng, Deputy Director, International Maritime Centre Division, MPA and Mr Darrick Leow, Assistant Director, Sea Transport Division, Ministry of Transport.

During this courtesy visit, Dr Lam took the opportunity to congratulate the “K” Line Group’s 100th anniversary in 2019 as well as Mr Myochin’s succession to the position of Group President & CEO of “K” Line Group from 1st April 2019.

Mr Myochin also thanked Dr Lam and Ms Tan Beng Tee for the meeting and the continuous support given by MPA and Ministry of Transport to the shipping industry in Singapore as well as globally.

During the meeting, Dr Lam and Mr Myochin exchanged views on a broad range of issues. This included plans by the “K” Line Group as well as ONE for their shipping operations from Singapore, in addition to upcoming developments such as the IMO 2020 0.5% global sulphur cap, IMO’s strategy on reduction of greenhouse gases as well as trends affecting the industry such as digitalisation and AI. Both MPA and “K” Line also affirmed the strong working relationship over the years and committed to explore further opportunities for collaboration in areas of common interest.

This courtesy visit further enhanced the traditional strong relationship and close co-operation between Singapore and Japan and we hope that this courtesy visit will further broaden and deepen “K” Line’s presence in Singapore and the Maritime Industry.
